Introduction cheecks
Cheeks are literally our jewels on the face. Their fullness somehow indicates a healthy, youthful face. When they are raised and full, we look younger, happier, more satisfied. How many times have you had the urge that when you see a small child or a baby, you pinch him/her in the cheek? Cheeks entice us to touch them. We just love their fullness! Indeed, the features of a young face are full cheeks!
Have you seen a young person without full cheeks, except of course in people who have undergone a drastic diet, where the fat cells have had completely melted? In thin people, the cheeks are less pronounced and people have usually bony faces.
A cheekless face looks sad, sometimes tired. Our cheeks lift nasolabial folds, corners of our lips, and chin. So they actually hold the fullness of the whole face. A person who suddenly loses weight often gets sunken cheeks. When the skin loses its elasticity, then it is clearly seen in the form of dropping the whole face. The whole face starts to slide down as the force of gravity does its part of the job.
What does it actually do to make our cheeks melt? Sometime around 30, the signs of aging begin.
Factors that greatly influence this are;
- Hyaluronic acid deficiency
- Collagen depletion (1% per year)
- Lifestyle
- Shallow breathing
- Sleeping on bad pillows
- Smoking
- Alcohol
- Insufficient blood supply
- Dissatisfaction
- Lack of sleep
- Lack of water intake
- Illness
- Excessive starvation
- Tooth extraction
- Gravity
- Use of mobile phones
- Hormonal imbalance
- Sugar
- Medications
Have you heard of the beauty triangle?
Clearly defined jawline, smooth taut skin, high cheekbones, full cheeks, raised lip corners. That makes the corner of beauty!
So, full cheeks are the main factor of our beautiful face. As aging occurs, this triangle begins, conditionally speaking, to rotate. The face takes on a sad and exhausted expression, the face lines drop, the cheeks become looser and flatter. Wrinkles appear on the forehead and between the eyebrows, and the lower part of the face becomes droopy with more and more wrinkles.
Hormones
High levels of the hormones progesterone and estrogen are often the cause of numerous changes in the skin, the appearance of blemishes and pimples. The hormone estrogen plays a very important role in stimulating the work of certain cells that are responsible for producing collagen and elastin. Everything in our body is connected!
Our body is one microcosm!
In the event that estrogen levels fall (when we age) during perimenopause and menopause, the skin suddenly begins to lose elasticity. This is the time when most women become dissatisfied with their appearance.
Nutrition
Sugar activates a process in the body called glycation. During this process, sugar molecules bind to protein fibers and attack them. Collagen fibers are protein, so as such they are a good target for sugar molecules. When they deteriorate, then the skin loses its firmness and becomes droopy. Too little fat in the diet may seem like a recipe for weight loss, but do not forget that for a healthy and beautiful appearance it is necessary to eat fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts. Fats are on the list as well, because they play a role in our body. Here, we primarily mean omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, which are important for the creation of healthy cells in the body. These skin cells produce protective oils on our skin that prevent it from deteriorating and dropping and restore skin’s firmness.
Teeth
In case your teeth have been removed, the jaw will slowly begin to retract at that point. Which results in a sunken cheek. Also, if you have lost teeth on one side of your face and use only the other side for chewing, then the side where you extracted your teeth will atrophy. It will atrophy your muscles since you don’t use them.
Facial asymmetry
With asymmetry of the face, one side is generally less supplied with blood. On that half, the eye is usually smaller, the eye is more tired, (or has a higher diopter), the cheek is less pronounced, the jaw opens unevenly, the angle of the lips is different from the other side. The mouth can be “crooked”. The jaw goes to one side. The causes can be different. The most important cause is the atlas, which is out of its position.
Sleeping
Sleeping on the side is one of the main reasons why all the problems on the face occur. Such sleep wrinkles the face and, of course, wrinkles the cheeks. Pressing the cheeks on the pillow leads to poor circulation in that part and thus a weaker supply of nutrients that the skin needs for regeneration and renewal. Quality sleep is also essential for the renewal of the whole organism and for our complete health as a whole.
The connection of the cheeks with our organs and body
Facial redness can be a sign of skin inflammation, but it can also indicate Cushing’s syndrome – excessive levels of the hormone cortisol. Cortisol causes swelling of blood vessels, which is first manifested on the most sensitive part of the face – the cheeks. Redness on the cheeks can also indicate Rosacea, a chronic disease that mainly affects women. In Chinese medicine, cheeks are connected to our lungs, so you stimulate their work as well. Blue or purple cheeks indicate low oxygen levels in the blood, which can be caused by elevated pulmonary pressure, a condition where the pressure is enlarged in the arteries that supply oxygen to the lungs.
Smoking
Typical skin appearance in long-term smokers is “hollow” cheeks, upright wrinkles above the upper lip, and numerous wrinkles in the corners of the eye. In medical terms, there is also the term “smoking face” which means that a person looks older than he actually is. The characteristics of a smoker’s face are the so-called “hollow” cheeks, gray color, more pronounced facial bones. These are then reduced skin elasticity, sensitivity, moisture loss, and the ability to regenerate. Wrinkles appear earlier than in non-smokers, which most often appear on the upper and lower lip, around the eyes, then deep wrinkles on the cheeks and along the lower jaw. After smoking only one cigarette, the capillaries can be narrowed in the next two hours. This reduces the amount of collagen that reaches the skin, which is why smokers more often look tired and “cloudy”, age faster than non-smokers. Cigarettes also deprive vitamin C, which is crucial in collagen production.
Of course, I did not list all the types that affect the reduction of cheek tone. We can always add something new to this topic.
The facts say that: Intake enough water (about 2 L per day). Proper nutrition (rich in fruits and vegetables). Good, quality sleep. Inner satisfaction. Facial care. Physical exercises. Facial exercises. They favorably affect the quality and appearance of our skin. Cheeks and skin are generally a mirror of our health and everything that happens to us from within.
Until recently, we believed that only creams and facial massages, that is, going to the beautician, could help us look better and more beautiful. I approve of the treatment at the beautician, first of all, it is a moment we dedicate to ourselves. During every massage and any treatment where the human hand is involved, it gives good and healing results. Nothing can replace the human touch!
The point is that now we have the knowledge and desire to dedicate ourselves at least for a short time, some 10-15 minutes to ourselves at home. That’s what Face Yoga allows us to do!
Exercises created for every woman and for every occasion!
They are different exercises for each part of the face, as well as for, in this case, the cheeks. Face Yoga is done preventively, so it can be started very early. This means kids can exercise with us too, which is a lot of fun! Face Yoga is done in middle age, purely to maintain the condition of the face, and in adulthood, to lift and tighten, rejuvenate. With the exercises I offer you, your cheeks are raised and emphasized, you get cheek tone. Their circulation and the circulation of the surrounding tissue are accelerated. The cheeks get a natural pink color! During exercise, you speed up the work of the lymph and remove the accumulated fat tissue and toxins. There are of course those who want to get cheeks, and there are special exercises for them! All in all, Face Yoga has brought and provided women with a new look at their face and its care!
In order to perform facial exercises properly, you need to:
- Wash your hands before exercising
- Set aside 5 – 15 minutes (per day)
- Be disciplined
- You start in front of the mirror
- Drink enough warm water
- Take photos (before and after)
- Hydrate the face (use cream or oil)
- Be inspired, stay positive!
There is always a solution for sunken cheeks! The most important thing is to activate the muscles on your face and dedicate yourself to it. Nourish your skin, do cheek exercises, and try to keep your youth as long as possible. The sooner you start preventing, the fewer chances you have of getting the tired appearance and wrinkles on your cheeks.
Choose the exercises that suit you best and enjoy a wrinkle-free face!
