Introduction
The eyes are the mirror of the soul!
Yes, it really is so !!!
How many times do we look ourselves in the eyes and how important is to us how the eyes and the skin around the eyes look like. And as time passes, we start noticing that our eyes shrink, their shape changes, our eyelids are pulled by gravitation, our eyes swell, lose luster, become dry, wrinkles around eyes become deeper and more pronounced. We feel heaviness, we look at ourselves in the mirror with dissatisfaction and we wonder where that wholeness is, the cheerfulness in our eyes, where their openness and freshness have disappeared. Despite the fact that we regularly apply the cream, go to the beautician, wrinkles still form. Why?
Here are a few reasons:
- Insufficient sleep
- Excessive sun exposure
- Insufficient water intake
- Sleeping on bad pillows
- Sleeping on your side
- Stress
- Smoking
- Poor diet
- Poor circulation
- Poor kidney function
- Chlorine in the pool
- Excessive sitting in front of the computer
Sleep is the basis for everything. Our body regenerates during sleep. Women need about 8 hours of sleep, which is scientifically proven. Men are a little less. Women have a more complex hormonal system, which if not well balanced, creates problems. Eight hours of good sleep is crucial. You go to bed before 22:00 and before that you don’t spend time behind the computer, or in front of the TV, or in front of the phone. To avoid electrical appliances and their light.
Have you heard of melatonin? When it gets dark, your pineal gland starts producing melatonin, a hormone that helps you fall asleep and regulates your circadian (day-night) rhythms. It lowers the internal temperature of your body, which when it is too high causes insomnia. Melatonin production is strongest in the middle of the night, and the process can be disrupted by even a small amount of artificial light. Let me mention another important item when we are already talking about sleep, and that is how we lie down. The pillow is very important. An excessively high pillow unsuited to the neck aims to reduce blood flow to the brain and face. We all know how often we wake up poor quality, that is, with neck and back pain and a feeling like we haven’t even slept. After such sleepless nights, we get dark circles and the skin around the eyes becomes wrinkled, dry, swollen, our eyes shrink, which results in a reduction of the tear duct. And we just look 10 years older.
It is best for our body and face to sleep flat and on our backs. When we sleep on our side, our face wrinkles. Then deep wrinkles are formed because if you do not move in bed while sleeping, you lie in one position almost all night. So your face is wrinkled all night.
Sun
We need the sun, both for the body and for the face and eyes. Morning light is extremely healing for people and the sun in the evening. Without the sun there is no healthy immunity, healthy skin, healthy eyes. Bathe in the sun, but be careful when. Not at all when the sun is strongest, and that is in the afternoon. The consequences of excessive sun exposure are: Deep lines and wrinkles appear on the skin, the firmness and elasticity of the skin decreases. Damage caused by the sun’s rays encourages the formation of spots and blemishes, and can also cause damage to the outer layer of the skin, which includes redness and itching. The skin around the eyes is more sensitive than, say, the skin on the cheeks. When the sun is strong, we frown. The eyes themselves try to shrink because they do not like the amount of light. Avoid the strong sun!
Water
Well-hydrated skin looks healthy and well-groomed. A lot of people think that taking other beverages, such as juices, has the same effect as water. But other liquids are incomparable to the effects of water. Water is found for the most part of our cells. Water washes away all impurities on the outside, but also on the inside. When we don’t drink enough water our kidneys suffer the most. The consequence is that the eyes are dry, tiny, swollen. There are a lot of wrinkles around the eyes that cut into the skin over time and make furrows. Sometimes the color around our eyes changes depending on the lifestyle and the load on the kidneys.
Stress
Wrinkles on the face or body are not always a sign that our skin is aging. Their early appearance can indicate a handful of other things that our body suffers, without us even being aware of it. Today, most people have too much desire to succeed, so they do not even notice that this great ambition, accelerated pace of life, improper and dry diet, and many other “normal” daily habits, leaves behind great consequences. Both to society and to us as individuals.
One of the first signs of fatigue and chronic exhaustion due to daily stress are certainly wrinkles on the face, especially around the eyes.
The effects of stress on the skin are reflected in the form of acne, redness of the skin, dryness, poor toning of the face, as well as accelerated aging, more precisely the appearance of wrinkles on the face, and often on the body.
Cortisol is a stress hormone that actually creates wrinkles. It destroys collagen, whose main role is to give elasticity and firmness to the skin. By destroying it, the skin loses its tone, deep lines begin to form on the skin, and the skin starts to sage. In addition, when we are tense, it is clearly outlined on our face and with frequent facial expressions, we start creating wrinkles on our face. This is how mimic wrinkles actually appear.
Nutrition
Most of us do not even remember at first that the skin is nourished both inside and out so that often even the highest quality treatment does not give results precisely because of nutritional problems.
In order for your quality serum to have an effect, you need to provide support to the skin from the inside – unfortunately, that support does not include fast food and sweets.
Poor digestion caused by a large amount of food of animal origin burdens the body. Fried foods cause accelerated aging.
Some studies show that sodium and caffeine have the most negative effect on dark circles. Sodium affects the accumulation of water in the body and the storage of these reserves, and caffeine, otherwise known as a diuretic, affects the retention of water, which is first reflected in the retention in the eye area.
Processed sugars affect skin aging. Namely, during digestion, carbohydrate molecules bind to the protein collagen, and in the process of glycation, they create completely new molecules, and thus the collagen that forms smooth youthful skin is lost forever.
Skincare is actually an internal affair because its appearance is a direct reflection of the health of internal organs, especially the liver and digestive system.
The body always works hard to eliminate toxins from the body, so if the liver is unable to do its job, the toxins are filtered through other organs such as the skin. When toxins are eliminated through the skin, they can cause rashes, pimples, dermatitis, and other dermatological diseases.
All foods affect the skin in some way. Either they keep it hydrating and soft, or they cause its diseases. Fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants and numerous vitamins stimulate the production of collagen (a protein that makes the skin smooth and elastic) and helps the liver to effectively prevent changes in the skin.
Smoking
Smoking can accelerate the aging process of your skin, which contributes to the formation of wrinkles. The more cigarettes you smoke per day and the longer you smoke, the more wrinkles you will have on your skin. Unfortunately, early damage to the skin from smoking is difficult to notice immediately, but only when it is too late.
Research shows that smokers do not sleep as soundly as non-smokers, and when you do not get enough sleep, you damage your appearance in several ways. One of the most immediate and most pronounced side effects of sleep deprivation is dark circles under the eyes.
Smoking causes wrinkles because the nicotine in cigarettes can cause narrowing of blood vessels in the layers of the skin. Skin is naturally shiny if you take care of it regularly and take proper care of it.
Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide, which “kills” oxygen in your skin. Also, due to poor circulation due to the narrowing of blood vessels, the skin is poorly nourished, and therefore nutrients hardly reach the face, including vitamin C, which helps protect and regenerate skin damage.
Sitting in front of a computer
The human was not created to sit all day and look at one point.
Everyone has a predisposition to developing “computer vision syndrome”. The reason is simple, since technology is improving every day, and the morphology of the eye has not changed for thousands of years, the human eye is not adapted for long-term looking at a computer screen. It is the same when a lot of time is spent in front of the TV and other electronic devices with a screen, such as a mobile phone or tablet.
Research states that people do not blink enough when they are concentrated on what they are doing, the frequency of blinking is reduced by up to five times, which leads to dryness and eye fatigue. Also, the muscles focus the eye on what you are looking at, so if the gaze is focused on the screen for hours, that group of muscles gets tired and problems arise.
There are tiny muscles in the eye that change the shape of the lens of our eye to cause us to see what we are focusing on. After an hour in front of a computer screen, these muscles can get tired of focusing on one fixed point.
In some cases, these muscles become so tired that the eyes can no longer focus.
The problem is that when we work, we rarely take a break, and we should look away from the computer as often as possible, and it is desirable to look into the distance.
Symptoms may include fatigue, headache, neck, back pain, eye strain, eye fatigue, double and occasional blurred vision, sensitivity to the flash, poor distance vision, poor color vision, and difficulty focusing again.
